Dead Rising 3 is native 720p on the Xbox One; locked at 30 frames per second

These past couple of weeks have been quite controversial in regards to the Xbox One versus the PlayStation 4 in sheer graphical performance. With rumors coming from all angles hinting that the PlayStation 4 was to get a graphically superior version of both EA’s “Battlefield 4” and Activision’s “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” fans from both sides have been rampant for answers.

Because of these rumors, allegations that the Xbox One is a “720p machine” have started becoming ever present on several on-line outlets. Sadly, those who have enjoyed the chaos have more fuel for the fire as “Dead Rising 3” has been announced to be running at a native 720p locked at 30 frames per second.

720p. And I’m really happy with that, with the sheer amount of stuff we have in an open world game locked at 30fps, that’s just brilliant. Of course our UI (user interface) runs at 1080 native on top, but no, we’re a 720p game locked at 30fps.

Although he has a solid point, Dead Rising 3’s on screen character count is damn impressive, it leaves you wondering if there could be more on the table. What is also important to point out is the use of the Xbox One’s multiple rendering tools. For those unaware, the Xbox One is capable of rendering three buffers at different resolutions, so if desired the user interface and in game resolutions can be different with the third buffer locked to the operating system.

So what is everyone’s take on the Xbox One living up to the idea that it may be a “720p machine” as so many Sony fan boys have claimed?
