Day Two Rundown
With Group Play now concluded, 16 teams have been completely eliminated from the competition, including some of Europe’s highest-ranking teams. Today, the final 16 teams will battle it out in a bracket-style format. Starting at 9:15am PDT (12:15pm EDT/4:15pm BST), all 16 teams have been drawn against one another. The 8 teams that win the first set of matches will progress to the Upper Bracket, but rather than being eliminated from the competition, the losers will progress to the Lower Bracket where they still have a chance of reaching the final. Throughout each round, teams will continue to progress through the Upper Bracket and losers will advance to the Lower Bracket, but teams that lose matches in the Lower Bracket will be eliminated from the competition. Ultimately, only four teams will remain in the competition at the end of the day and the remaining 12 will be eliminated. The four remaining teams will play in their respective Upper or Lower Bracket final tomorrow, with the winners advancing to the grand final. All in all, we can expect to be treated to a total of 29 matches today.
