Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare PS4 Share Play Blocked?

UPDATE: The following is a statement from Activision on the Share Play being blocked on PS4: “Delivering a great gaming experience for fans is our top priority,” the company says in a statement we received via email. “We’re focused on launching Advanced Warfare and ensuring that people have a great time playing it, which our fans seem to be. Share Play is a new feature that was introduced as part of the recent PS4 firmware 2.00 update. Our engineers didn’t have access to it before it launched, so we haven’t had a chance to evaluate it to see how it will impact the experience across all modes of play. Of course we wouldn’t include a feature in our game without having the chance to test it. Once we’ve fully analyzed its performance, we’ll determine how to support it going forward.

How do you feel about it? Does this justify it or does it have to do with the exclusive partnership with Microsoft?

 Original post:

Reports are coming in from various Playstation 4 players trying to use Share Play feature with their friends to show them the new Call of Duty game that it’s just showing the friend a “The hosts game screen is not displayed because the scene is a blocked scene for Share Play.” However this is lasting throughout the whole game not just cut-scenes or scenes with revealing information for the host.

Theories are just as abundant as the complaints however about what could be causing this and quite a few of them are possible. The most popular seem to be.

Day Zero Edition: Well, this is possible because technically the game isn’t exactly out for everyone who didn’t pre-order and some might be trying to use Share Play to get around that.

Bug: Again another big possibility. With all of the issues with the PS4 2.0 patch it’s understandable that Sledgehammer Games might just disable it until the kinks get sorted out then re-enable it so that people have the best experience possible with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare whether they own it or not.

NYI: Not yet implemented, again a very real possibility. With the game being developed and released just as Share Play was being rolled out as well, it just might not be compatible for some reason at launch, who knows? Again I’m sure Sledgehammer Games would want the best experience for everyone involved and not have PS4’s crashing over a feature they could have disabled.

Of course there is the unpopular theory… that they just don’t want to utilize the Share Play feature for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and are utilizing the easiest method of blocking it being the blocked scene “feature” for developers.

Either way it is, tomorrow we will be able to rule out the Day Zero Edition theory if it’s true or not and eventually I’m sure Sledgehammer Games will have a statement on what the deal is and why it was/is disabled. Until then, what do YOU think about this? Do you think there is a good reason Sledgehammer Games has blocked Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from being Share Played or do you think it’s just a bug?
