It was previously rumored back in September that Sony was set to announce a virtual-reality headset for the PS4, and while that never happened more news on a potential head-mounted display has surfaced:
NeoGAF has uncovered a few Sony patents for a VR-styled headset aimed for gaming applications. Overall it is very reminiscent of the Oculus Rift except has one unique feature: an external audio system that could alert players of real-life hazards that they may want to take off the headset to attend to.
Sounds interesting (groan…)! VR is taking off judging by the massive support Oculus has received recently, Sony is definitely wise in exploring the same territory. Also: gotta love the quality art used in patents. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
