Japanese economic newspaper Sankei Shimbun has some interesting news for us this morning: Capcom is going to be revealing Resident Evil 7– the follow-up to the generally negatively received Resident Evil 6– at E3 this year. The game will reportedly come out on at least PS4 (it was the only platform mentioned) but there’s no specific acknowledgement of exclusivity, so it’ll probably hit other consoles as well, and Capcom is reportedly expecting to sell roughly 5.6 million copies of the game.
This is still technically a rumor right now, but reports like these tend to be pretty accurate and although it would be a bit early compared to previous games in the series (ResEvil games tend to release once every four years or so– 6 released in 2013) it doesn’t seem too farfetched. Capcom likely wants to put as much space between the franchise name and its last entry as possible.
