PS4 System Update 1.60 details, Sony Gold Wireless Headset Announced

According to the latest post on Playstation.Blog, Sony will be releasing it’s next system software update later tonight for the Playstation 4. It will add support for some of Sony’s own high end wireless headsets along with some system improvements.

Update 1.60 will add support for the PULSE and PULSE Elite Edition headsets, which Sony says offer up 7.1 surround sound and crystal clear voice chat. Playstation Europe’s community manager Chris Owen tweeted recently that on top of PULSE support the software update will include general stability improvements and the ability to mute the camera.

Sony also announced they’re launching a new Playstation brand wireless headset. The Gold Wireless Headset (pictured below) was developed specifically with Playstation games in mind and features 7.1 surround sound, a noise cancelling microphone and a battery providing eight hours of continuous gameplay. You can connect the Gold to your PS4, Playstation 3 or computer using the included wireless adapter. It can also be connected to the PS Vita and other mobile devices using the included 3.55mm audio cable.

The PULSE and Gold Wireless Headset will also be compatible with a free Headset Companion App that will hit the Playstation Store sometime in February. The App will allow users to “download developer-created game modes specifically tuned to enhance a game’s audio.” Developer Sucker Punch will be the first to release one of these custom sound modes for the highly anticipated PS4 exclusive, inFAMOUS Second Son. Along with custom sound modes the app will also offer a variety of preset audio modes for games, music and movies.

The Gold Wireless Headset will retail for $99.99 (MSRP) and release sometime in the next couple weeks. System update 1.60 will release sometime in the next 24 hours.
