New Star Wars 1313 info

Though Star Wars 1313 is believed to have been canceled in the wake of Disney’s major acquisition of Lucasarts earlier this spring, IGN recently viewed a 15-minute demo that was intended to be shown at this years E3. New details and artwork were revealed:

• Game was meant to begin with a prologue on Tattooine
• Different bounty hunters work for a variety of bosses
• Boba Fett served Jabba the Hutt
• Game was set to take place between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies
• Boba Fett’s armor would have become stronger and more familiar throughout the story
• At one point in the story, Fett would also end up in layer 1314
• Fett would fight his way through layer 1314 in search of his bounty
• One section sees Fett hanging from a drain pipe; it bursts as he climbs, falling downward and forcing Fett to find a new place to grip
• Scripted sequences would have been common
• Another section: Boba Fett chasing a Trandoshan through a sprawling marketplace in level 1313
• Fett cuffs the Trandoshan rather than killing him
• Droid companion would have fought alongside Fett
• Droid would eventually betray Fett
• Some of the game would tie into the live-action TV series, which was set on Coruscant and focused on the same crime families as the game

This game was easily one of my most anticipated when it was first announced last year, it’s very unfortunate that the title has seemingly been shut down cold as Lucasarts really had an amazing looking title here. We shouldn’t morn too long though, it was stated that the game may live on through licensing with another developer/publisher. And even if it doesn’t, there will be more quality Star Wars games the first of which is likely to be DICE’s rebooting of Battlefront. I just hope 1313 finds a way to come to a realization as it appeared to be something special.
