Microsoft owns up to faulty Xbox One disk drives, offers a solution to customers

The Xbox One is finally here! With that being said, early reports from customers who managed to obtain Microsoft’s latest console early have been rolling in reporting disk drive failure.

Admitting there is a problem, Microsoft has come out addressing the issue. In order to avoid a potential public relation’s nightmare similar to the “Red Ring of Death” present in the Xbox 360 launch, Microsoft has been hard at work making things right for the customers effected by these failed units.

“We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers.”

In order to work with the customer in the most flexible manor possible, Microsoft offers several options to these customers.

“Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running.”

Although Microsoft won’t say how many Xbox One’s are effected by these issues, a similar “small percentage” answer was given that echoed Sony’s response from a week earlier.
