Sony has announced that the long awaited God of War will finally be released on Friday, April 20th for PlayStation 4 consoles!
Considered a ‘soft reboot’, Santa Monica Studio is returning to develop God of War which takes place several years after 2010’s title. Players will regain control of Kratos whom now has the added responsibility of being a father and mentor. The gameplay has been rebuilt from the ground up with the addition of archery knowledge points, a Spartan Rage ability and crafting resources.
Alongside the launch date announcement comes the reveal of a number of special editions. Priced at $69.99, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes a digital download of the game, artbook and comic while North American residents will also receive a physical pin. The mid-tier Collector’s Edition is priced at $129.99 and features a 9″ statue, steelbook case, exclusive lithograph and cloth map. If you fancy an even bigger upgrade at $149.99, the premium Stone Mason Edition (North America only) also includes four rare items taken from the game. Pre-ordering any edition of the game will grant you access to three legendary shield skins while GameStop and EB Games are offering an exclusive Luck of Ages XP Boost bonus.
