Details about DLC for Naughty Dogs’ The Last Us is expected to hit this month, which will feature characters from the main game, creative Director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley revealed today during a Reddit AMA.

When asked about more information for the DLC, the duo responded with “there’s stuff in the pipe… to be talked about soon-ish” and “News is on the way about the first DLC drop. Should hear about it this month.”

The developers also revealed that the studio is currently working on the single-player DLC and “talking about other ideas.” Characters from the main game will see a return in the single player DLC and two multiplayer DLCs are planned.

When asked what players could expect from a continuation of the story in a The Last of Us sequel and whether changes in gameplay are planned, Druckmann responded with “Don’t know. Still trying to figure it out ourselves.”

The ending implemented in the game’s final release “didn’t sit well with some members of the team,” according to Druckmann, who said that “once it was more fleshed out, it became an easier sell.” Straley wrote there was happier ending at one stage.

“Where Ellie and Joel were driving completely contented and satisfied with their adventures off into a glorious sunset… but that didn’t feel right,” he wrote. “It just wasn’t honest to the world or the characters we created. This ending felt right for us.”

The team went through “about three or four ideas” before settling with the current ending. Druckmann and Straley will share the discarded The Last of Us endings at a PAX Prime panel when the expo takes place in Seattle, Wash. from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2. Troy Baker, the voice actor who played main character Joel will perform a song as the character during the panel, according to the pair.
