It looks like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is getting remote play on the Playstation 4. According to Kotaku and Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida, players of the MMORPG can craft, harvest, enjoy epic sized battles and level up on their PS Vita.
“Also, it’s not like you cannot progress in the game if you don’t play with a party.” Yoshida told Japanese video game magazine Famitsu. “You can play quests by yourself bit by bit and level up.”
Yoshida said that remote play could be used during times you can’t play with friends or to just relax and used fishing as an example.
“But like, when you’re all, ‘let’s form a party and go to a dungeon!,’ then you go sit in front of your monitor and enjoy playing that on a big screen. In that regard, you can choose your play style.”
“Depending on whether you feel like playing at a certain time or on a certain day, you can select between relaxing play or giving it your all,” added Yoshida. “I think expanding those options is itself something new.”
I pre-ordered a PS4. I own a PS Vita. I play FFXIV on PC and PS3. I for one am truly excited about this! This game is meant to be played and enjoyed on the big screen but to think that I could fish or craft from the luxury of my bed or “washroom” is a dream come true!
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released next year on the PS4.
