Final Fantasy XIV Trials Extended Following Server Issues

I really have a lot of admiration and respect for Yoshi and his team at Square Enix for trying to please the fans of Final Fantasy XIV. After the long and trying uphill battle to save FFXIV and it’s relaunch into FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, the people of Eorzea now suffer from the power and wrath of server issues. Something far worse than any Elder Primal.

server codes

Since the games relaunch on August 27th and even prior during their early access promotion, players have received several different error codes when trying to log in. Most of these errors are due to an extreme amount of congestion that SE did not anticipate.

In a statement made today by Square Enix on Lodestone, these issues have being addressed, they will be resolved and players will be rewarded.

Since the beginning of official service on August 27, 2013, the number of users attempting to access the game has significantly exceeded our initial estimates. While we are pleased to see support for the game reach far beyond our expectations, the servers were not prepared to handle this influx of players. As a result, our servers have been pushed beyond maximum capacity. In order to allow access to as many users as possible, we have implemented login and character creation restrictions. We understand, however, that these restrictions have greatly inconvenienced our players.

To resolve this issue, they will be performing maintenance from September 3, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. to September 4, 2013, at 3:00 a.m (PDT), to increase the number of available Worlds, reducing stress on the Duty Finder servers, and increasing the number of concurrent logins allowed for each server.

As a result of this inconvenience, Square Enix has extended it’s original week-long free trial. Adding an additional seven days of free play. Also, players who haven’t entered their free trial registration codes yet will also receive an additional seven-day trial if they register prior to September 9, 2013.

Have you been suffering from error codes and trying to get into the game? Will this sway your decision to playing the game?
