Fez 2 cancelled, after game developer quits.

Fez developer Phil Fish has confirmed that he is done with making games through email with Polygon , by saying , “Yep, I’m done.” No official details have been given to why the game was canceled.

Fish did have a heated argument from a statement by Marcus Beer (one of GameTrailer’s writers) on twitter from a statement Beer had on Invisible Walls

“Gents,” Beer said,” You were the guys who did Indie Game: the Movie. And some of you looked relatively normal in it, one of you looked like a total tosspot in it. But you can’t have it both ways. You’re successful game designers — you’re ‘indie’ game designers — hurrah, good for you, you fucking hipsters.”

Fish denied questions about Xbox One’s reversal on indie self-publishing after the media reached out for his opinion.

Fish had harsh comments in return on twitter saying, “I fucking hate this industry” for the negativity and criticism it’s brought. ” The arguement ended up in Phil Fish saying, “I’m done. Fez 2 is canceled. Goodbye”.

The official announcement went up on Polytron after. Phil Fish has made his twitter account private.

A final post was then released by Polytron stating:

Fez 2 is cancelled. I am done. I take the money and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn’t the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win.”

Personally it is said to see a prominent game designer let his emotions get the best of him, I enjoy many indie games and have played Fez. Plus there must be numerous fans that have been let down from this announcement. I’ve also watched the documentary that was mentioned in Beer’s statement, Fish had many struggles from what I saw and I can understand why he couldn’t take it. I would like to wish Phil Fish the best, and hope to see him come back to the industry, one day.
