COD Championships 2013: Predictions

This weekend is very big for the Call of Duty Competitive community. Treyarch and Activision is hosting the biggest Call of Duty Tournaments in the history of the game. There have been qualifiers played in many distinct regions of the world such as North America, Mexico, Asia, South Africa, Brazil, and others to determine the best teams in the world. Thirty-two teams have been chosen and invited to this prestigious event to compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool, and no that is not a typo there are suppose to be six zeros. This is by far the first tournament to set up such an achievement on the world stage. It will be the biggest most memorable event to ever happen in Call of Duty history up to this point and you definitely don’t want to miss out. The event is this weekend from April 5th-7th in Hollywood, California.

Here is a look at the prize pool just to show you what is up for grab this weekend.

Since Gator isn’t the biggest competitive Call of Duty follower he trusted me in forming my own opinion on the predictions for this weekend. Many teams have been working very hard for the past few weeks after their qualifiers had concluded. A few teams such as UNiTE (NA) and vVv Gaming (NA) had to pick up players due to age restrictions. Making them look for players to fill those spots, so they could compete at the Championships. Giving them a set back from other teams who can keep their chemistry and strategies. Clayster was the only person on the UNiTE roster that could attend the event. He eventually chose three-fourths of team prophecy (EU) to fill out his squad. They are known as one of the top european teams but failed to perform on LAN this weekend at EGL9 this past weekend. Then vVv Gaming ended up picking up Dedo to fill out their roster for the event. Dedo is known as a main slayer type of player, seems like a good choice to fill out their roster. The team with the most to lose right now though is Fariko. They are the MLG Dallas and EGL9 champions, they are definitely considered the favorites to win this weekend. But there are plenty of contenders like Complexity (NA), Optic Gaming (NA),  and Quantic (NA) have been grinding to be at their peak. But that’s just North American teams they have to worry about, thats not including the rest of the world. I have to say that it seems like Optic has been practicing a lot lately, almost everyday or maybe it’s just Nadeshot. But I feel like when that team grinds, they produce big things. A team that hasn’t been practicing as much as I would expect is EnVyUs (NA), it appears that there have been complications with teammates being able to practice (which may hurt them). It will be very interesting to see who comes out on top this weekend.
