Payday 2 Beta Impressions

As being one of the lucky individuals playing the Payday 2 beta at this time I wanted to discuss my impressions of the game so far. Given the fact that Payday 2 is still in beta mode, please understand that my impressions will change as the game is not where it will be come release day and it’s not fair to judge a game based solely on beta gameplay. With that being said, let’s jump right into it shall we?

Payday 2 is basically a “Robbery Simulator” or if you want to get technical, a “Crime Simulator” The basic functions of the game are that you get to play one of four types of criminals that each have their own set of skills that you utilize to complete a given mission. It is a multiplayer game but can be played solo although computer A.I. still needs some work. I have to say that the game has been nothing short of amazing so far with action being it’s strongpoint. From trying to secretly check out locations and plan your strategy with friends or just going into a robbery blindly with guns blazing, the game can take you to different heights of excitement and/or intensity. I definitely recommend playing with friends though as A.I. at the moment can be a little frustrating as they don’t function properly in a robbery situation just yet and seem to be clueless as to what is going on. There have been moments where the A.I. didn’t even put their mask on during the robbery process. It’s definitely better to play and map out your plan with friends so that you can get the most out of your criminal experience. After all, it feels good thinking you can be a master criminal that always gets away with the prize.

PAYDAY 2 BETA – BAIN: BANK HEIST: CASH on HARD

My favorite mission so far is entitled “Rats” which is a three part mission where you and your friends have to rob a meth lab, cook up the meth, hold off a police and FBI S.W.A.T. team, exchange the drugs with a gang and rob cash from a gang located on a bus on an expressway overpass while fighting off waves of police and FBI enforcement. As I said it can get pretty intense and you have to work hard as a team to stay alive and out of police custody to complete the mission. All in all, the missions are fun and awesome to accomplish whether your play style is sneaky or bold. I am looking forward to the game’s release and eager to play the finished project. Payday 2 will be released on August 13th for PC and on a later date TBD for Xbox 360 and PS3.
