Updated: YouTube launching “Youtube Gaming” Live-streaming service

Update: YouTube has released over the course of the hour a few HD Screenshots of what the new Youtube Gaming is going to be looking like! To say the least, it’s much more modern and pleasing to the eyes than the current old design.

According to Google, YouTube Gaming in the next few weeks will launch an improved live service that makes it simpler to broadcast gameplay. The site currently supports streaming of up to 60 frames per second, as well as automatically converting the live stream into an on-demand YouTube video. In addition it will be avaliable on Web, Android and, iOS. No mention of console support just yet however.

The YouTube Gaming service will be available this summer starting in the U.S. and U.K. “We’re building this just for gamers — so we want to hear from you about how we can make it the best way to connect with your community,” Joyce wrote.

YouTube Gaming, will have a dedicated page for each of more than 25,000 games from well established streamed games to less often streamed games such as Astroids.

Now, it looks like YouTube is going to try and give Twitch a run for it’s money by putting a lot of advertisement and promotion into this endeavor, however it still is going to be a tough battle for them to win. Twitch already supports everything they can do from what we know so far and has a much larger viewer-base for live-streams. It”s going to require some incentives for larger streamers to switch over from Twitch to YouTube to bring in more viewers we think.
