Ubisoft introduces Sam, your new personal gaming assistant

There’s no doubt that virtual assistants have been on the rise in the last decade. Microsoft has Cortana, Apple has Siri, Amazon has Alexa, and now Ubisoft has Sam. Sam is a personalized assistant unlike any other however, as it is specifically geared towards video games. While on the surface the idea may be absurd, with more growth and development, Sam could truly grow into a major asset. Perhaps the biggest use may be for professional gamers. Imagine completing a game of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and instantly asking Sam your accuracy, damage per shot, or even give you a performance based grade.

However, those days still seem very far away. As of right now, Sam is only available in Canada through the free Ubisoft Club application on mobile devices. As of right now, Sam’s abilities are limited to general questions about games, redirecting towards video game based videos/articles, or anything about Ubisoft games and services.

Over doing it? Maybe. But gamers should keep a keen eye on Sam and other assistants like it.
