[RUMOR] Resident Evil 7 in development since 2012

There is no question in Capcom’s mind that a new Resident Evil is in the future, but it’s possible that the next entry in the horror franchise may be further along than we thought–if a LinkedIn profile is to believed.

Former House of Moves costume designer Karen Brakenridge has listed Resident Evil 7 on her CV. Brakenridge writes on her LinkedIn page that she worked on the unannounced game between November 2012 and January 2013. Resident Evil 6 launched in October of last year, so it’d be quite impressive if Capcom was able to focus its attention to the next core entry in the series so swiftly.

This may not be as unlikely as it seems however as it’s not unheard of for triple-A developers to begin work on the next game in a series even during development of a current release.

For those who are curious, House of Moves is a motion capture and animation studio. The company’s previous work includes Gears of War 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach, God of War III, Enslaved, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Are you ready for a new main entry into the Resident Evil franchise? Do you think the largly-negative reception of RE6 will prompt Capcom to return the series to its roots? Share your thoughts below in the comments!
