MLG announces new rules for MLG COD League Season 3

After one the most successful events at MLG Anaheim, MLG announced new rules and details for MLG COD League Season 3. These rules will affect how Free Agencies and player transfers are handled between teams. Roster changes is a big thing after every event, MLG has decided to help weather this post event toxic by adding universal rules that are hopefully picked up by other organizations.

MLG COD League Season 3 will begin on July 14th, 2014.

After careful consideration and extensive conversations with team owners, today we are releasing the details and refined rules for Season 3 of the MLG Call of Duty: Ghosts Pro League. The Season 3 draft will take place on Thursday, July 10th and highlights will be broadcast via MLG.tv. Season 3 gameplay will take place starting Monday, July 14th with matches streamed on MLG.tv. Broadcast details and additional information will be released in the coming weeks.

With these rules and these parameters of qualified players and qualified teams we feel that both parties, players and teams, are given protection within the new free agency system.

Key Dates:

Player Movement Periods – All player movement periods begin at 5:01 EDT and all player movement periods end at 5 PM EDT.

Free = June 25th to July 2nd
Players may declare themselves to be a Free Agent
Teams may release 1 Player
Teams may add Players
Add = July 2nd to July 7th: Teams may add Players
Join = July 7th to July 9th: Players may join Teams
Draft = July 10th: Teams must add Players to complete their 8-Player Roster

Season 3: Begins on Monday, July 14th

Rules:

During the Free Player Movement period:

When a Player’s Free Agency request is approved, the Player has left the Team and may be added by any Team, including their original Team.
When a Team’s Release request is approved, the Player has been removed from the Team and may be added by any Team, including their original Team.
A Team’s request to Add a Player must be accompanied by a Player’s request to be added to the Team. When such requests are approved, the Player is added to the Team and may not leave or be removed from the Team until after the end of Season 3.

During the Add Player Movement period:

A Team’s request to Add a Player must be accompanied by a Player’s request to be added to the Team. When such requests are approved, the Player is added to the Team and may not leave or be removed from the Team until after the end of Season 3.

During the Join Player Movement Period:

Anyone who was a Player on an Initial Season 3 Roster and is currently a Free Agent, may join a Team that has fewer than 4 Players. When a Join request is approved, the Player is added to the Team and may not leave or be removed from the Team until after the end of Season 3. If such Players are still Free Agents at the end of the Join Player Movement Period, they can choose to be added to the pool of Draft Eligible Players or choose not to participate in Season 3.

During the Draft:

Teams must use all of their Draft picks in order to fill their Roster to 8 Players.
Players must have at least 3000 Ghosts Pro Points in order to be Draft Eligible.

Additional Rules:

A Team’s spot in Season 3 is held by the Team Owner, even if all Players from the Initial Season 3 Roster become Free Agents or are released.
Season 3 Rosters may not exceed 4 Players during the Free, Add, or Join Player Movement Periods.
Teams with fewer than 4 Players at the end of the Join Player Movement Period will be awarded a conditional draft pick(s) at the end of the 4th Round.
Teams must divide their Season 3 Rosters into a list of 4 Starters and a list of 4 Substitutes by 9 AM EDT on Monday, July 14th.
After the Join Player Movement Period has ended, the only Roster changes that will be allowed are the addition of Players through the Draft and changing a Player’s designation (Starter/Substitute).
Players may not compete from outside of North America.
Ownership & Team Names must be approved by MLG.
All Player Movement requests must be approved by MLG.
