3 Reasons To Save Your Xbox 360 & PS3

With Next Gen consoles now arriving on the scene, millions of people are trying desperately to purchase one before the holidays for themselves or their children. Most consider this the best time of the year for gamers and that statement can be true for many different reasons. For some gamers, getting their hands on a fresh new Xbox One or PS4 can mean the world and they can’t wait to play all the new games with all new and improved graphics. They rush to Gamestop and local gaming stores and trade or sell their older consoles to get money for the new consoles. That is what I want to discuss as I was one of those gamers and came to the realization that I made a mistake. I traded in my Xbox 360 and PS3 at a local Gamestop for in-store credit towards a Next Gen console. In my mind I thought I was done with them and couldn’t wait to play a new system. Then came Black Friday and I watched as 360 and PS3 prices on consoles, games and accessories were dropped so low that everyone was buying them for the holidays. Well seeing that made me think about what I had done and made me miss my old consoles. I quickly ran to another Gamestop and bought a newer PS3 bundle to go along with the Xbox One and PS4 that’s on the way. After a long thought process, I came up with three reasons why you should save your 360 and PS3 even if you have already jumped ship to a new console. Hopefully this will help you as a gamer decide what’s best for your gaming needs and not make the mistake I did that I soon corrected.

1. Price Drops
Now that the Xbox One and PS4 are available, many stores are offering Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, games and accessories at considerably lower prices. So if you have never owned one, have one and wanted to purchase the other or own both but need more games and accessories, this is an exciting time to save lots of money. Many stores are offering bundles with consoles and games included. Prices on headsets and controllers have dropped significantly which makes you able to play some games you may have wanted but couldn’t afford just yet. I definitely encourage you to pick up some games from both systems while they are cheap, try them out and have fun.

2. Catch Up On The Exclusives
Not everyone will have a chance to own a next gen console to begin with. So I suggest you take this time to catch up on some games for the 360 and PS3 that you have always wanted to play. There are great exclusive titles for both systems that are still in HD and are extremely fun to play. Series titles for Xbox like Forza, Gears of War and Halo have many different campaigns and storylines. As for the PS3, God Of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Grand Turismo, Killzone, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls and many other titles are great for your gaming experience and like I said, still amazing visually. You can also catch up on the many multiple platform games such as Assassins Creed, Transformers (High Moon Developed), Grand Theft Autos and much more as well. This is the time of the year where you as a gamer will prosper because there are so many great games to play for both systems and they will be less expensive to play. I definitely advise you to do some catching up before you fully immerse yourself into next gen.

3. Your Console Still Serves A Purpose
If you own a 360, PS3 or both, you know that they have many different functions besides gaming. Both play DVDs and Blu Rays (PS3 only). You can surf the net, watch netflix, hulu plus, listen to music and view photos. For many people these consoles are just as good for their home media services as well as their gaming needs. On a side note the 360 and PS3 function greatly as opposed to some next gen consoles having problems at launch. Although Microsoft and Sony will eventually work out those kinks with the Xbox One and PS4, the 360 and PS3 will remain a powerful option for your gaming needs. As well, many families have younger children that may be better suited to start gaming on an older console before handling newer consoles that you have shelled out $500 or more for. Saving your 360 and PS3 for media and children’s recreational room purposes will keep the kids occupied while you game on your new console. All the more reason to save your 360 and PS3 as they will always serve a purpose and will always be fun to play.
