Xbox 360 version of TitanFall “Runs above 30fps”

TitanFall is one of 2014’s largest titles, even with it being launched a few short months into the year. The combination of solid gameplay, refreshing mechanics and fast paced action all add up to one giant pile of first person shooter glory.

The game does have a red headed step child, however. With Microsoft purchasing the exclusive rights to TitanFall in order to secure it on their platforms, Respawn Entertainment has been adamant about showing off the Xbox One and PC variants of the title. With little to no mention of the (delayed) Xbox 360 version, people have been skeptical about what the (outsourced) “last-generation” version of the title may bring to the table.

Today, Respawn has finally commented about the title, stating the following:

“Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it, found in the Xbox One and PC versions. The game looks great, sounds great, and above all it plays great. There are of course some technical differences that are due to the technical limitations of the hardware – for example, the game runs above 30fps – but rest assured, the intense 6v6 wall-running, titan dropping action is all there.”

“Above 30fps” is a surprisingly optimistic statement from a development studio that once claimed “frame rate is king,” and how a game with such fast paced game mechanics will perform at sub-60 frames per second should yield some interesting result. Regardless, this statement also vindicates previous rumors that the title would also be running at sub-720p resolutions.

With release of the title soon, time will certainly tell, but with the Xbox One and PC version of the title already out, are these performance results of the Xbox 360 version really surprising?
