Oculus to launch demos in stores

Skeptical to buy the Oculus Rift? Starting on May 7th users will be able to test the Oculus at 48 different Best Buy locations. You could also buy the hardware in store though with limited quantity. “A small number of Rifts will be available for purchase at select Best Buy stores starting May 7 and online from Microsoft and Amazon, starting May 6 at 9 a.m. PST,” Oculus’ blog post states.

While this is pretty exciting for curious users, people that pre-ordered the Rift will be receiving theirs after those who choose to get it in store or online. However Oculus will be giving the option to wait in line in store and get a Rift while still receiving the pre-order benefits.

“We know that many pre-order customers are still waiting for their Rifts, so we’re offering those customers a chance to purchase Rift from retail instead — while keeping their pre-order benefits, like the EVE: Valkyrie Founder’s Pack and priority status for Touch pre-orders,” the company explains. “If you’re interested, simply go to your order status and let us know you’ve purchased a Rift at retail, and we’ll cancel your pre-order. Your EVE: Valkyrie entitlement will appear in your order history.

Customers who purchased this item online have been told that the product wont be received until August so this release will allow die-hard consumers  to get this product now.

The demo stations will include Dreamdeck and The Climb experiences to start, with Farlands being added at a later date. You can go to https://live.oculus.com/ to schedule your testing.
