Black Ops 3’s campaign is more free-flowing, less emphasis on ‘Follow’

Continuing from yesterday’s news with GamesRadar, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 campaign previews continue to trickle in. Next up is Game Informer who particularly shed light on how free the campaign missions are.

One of the complains that people may have for previous Call of Duty campaigns is its use of ‘Following’ characters and objectives, thus limiting how much control and freedom players have. However, as noted by Game Informer, Black Ops 3 is attempting to change this due to its philosophy of creating open levels which cater to co-operative player. In the mission played by GI, players are tasked with extracting a prisoner (played by actor Tony Amendola) in Cairo, Egypt. While on course for that, players use new advanced weaponry in the form of a Spike Launcher to take out incoming enemies. One of the objectives of this level is to fire the Spike Launcher at weak points in the road, a method which will completely destroy concrete.

In particular, GI noted how free-flowing this section of the level was and how they didn’t come across any ‘Follow’ objectives. Players have complete freedom to use the battle area at their disposal, providing them with perfect opportunities to try out different set of tactics and equipment
