Halo 3: ODST available now for early Halo: MCC players

Microsoft has begun sending out Xbox One download codes for the Halo 3: ODST campaign, the compensation package offered to players due to the problems that have plagued Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Eligible players are those who played The Master Chief Collection before December 19th and codes are being sent via an Xbox Live message. The message will expire after June 30th, but codes can still be redeemed after this date as long as you’ve noted it down or contacted support. The campaign is available to download and play for free right now (8gb size) and players still need to own a copy of The Master Chief Collection. While Firefight isn’t included, the campaign has been remastered to feature 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. A new content update has also been released for all players, with the other part of the compensation being available; Halo 2’s ‘Relic’ multiplayer map remastered as ‘Remmant’.

343 Industries has shared a few additional details via a FAQ posted on their blog. Ineligible users will shortly be able to purchase the Halo 3: ODST Campaign via the Xbox Store for $4.99. A host of new Achievements have been added with ODST and can be found here. Last of all, you can check out the long list of what’s included in the update here.
