Destiny ‘House of Wolves’ DLC – The Reef social space revealed in first live-stream

As part of the first live-stream in a three-part series, Bungie revealed details on Destiny’s new location.

The second expansion for Destiny, House of Wolves, will open up The Reef so that players can explore it as a new social space location. In today’s live-stream, Bungie revealed the first details on The Reef, including the vendors that players will come across.

• The Reef is now a social space (a la The Tower) and will be available for everyone, whether they have the DLC or not. The Reef is described as a visually and orally dark and dangerous location and as the habitat for the Awoken. Like The Tower, there is room for potential new areas to open up.
• The Bounty Tracker, Vault, Postmaster and Cryptarch are all confirmed to be available in The Reef.
• There will still be reasons to visit The Tower. For instance, now players will be able to exchange materials via The Speaker, including the ability to turn Ascendant Shards and Energy into Glimmer.
• Players will be able to reach the new maximum Light Level of 34 whether they have the DLC or not.
• A new reforging feature will enable players to reset a weapon’s progression in return for the option to choose a new set of abilities. This can be activated via the Gunsmith located in The Tower.
• Unlike in the previous DLC, The Dark Below, weapon and armour progress will not be reset when upgrading them.
• All players will be able to upgrade their Legendary weapons to achieve the new DLC stat cap and reach maximum attack and defense. A new resource, Etheric Material, can be gained through Nightfall Strikes, Prison of Elders, Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, which will provide players with a new way to upgrade Exotic weapons without requiring a visit to Xur.
• New vendors –
  • Queen’s Wrath (Petra Venj) – The main quest-giver for the new story missions. Provides Wanted Bounties which can be used to earn XP or Queen’s Wrath points. Increasing the Queen Wrath rank will allow players to purchase new items, including emblems and ships.
  • Disciple of Osiris (Brother Vance) – Vendor for the new Trials of Osiris event which runs every Friday through to Tuesday. Items that can be purchased include Trial Rewards and Supplies, as well as a Passage which is needed to enter the event. More will be announced in the next stream next Wednesday at 11am PT.
  • House of Judgement (Variks) – Vendor for the new battle-arena mode, Prison of Elders. Items offered include Prison of Elders Rewards and ships. The rewards offered and challenges that players must overcome will change every week. Players need to complete the new DLC missions to participate. More will be announced the in final stream on Wednesday, 6th May at 11am PT.
