Advanced Warfare ‘Ascendance’ DLC detailed, coming March 31st

Activision have today revealed the details on Ascendance, the second DLC pack for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The pack will be released first on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Tuesday, March 31st. PlayStation and PC users will have to wait a month to get their hands on the DLC, as per the timed exclusive deal.

Now that you know when the pack is released, what’s included? First of all, Ascendance will feature a new weapon; the OHM and its custom variant, the OHM-Werewolf. A directed energy LMG and Shotgun hybrid weapon, the OHM is currently available on Xbox for Season Pass owners. Season Pass owners on other platforms will soon be able to try out the weapon for themselves, but those without a pass will have to wait for the DLC’s launch.

As for the maps, there are four new multiplayer maps and a new Exo Zombies level. Perplex is set in a five-story apartment complex in Sydney, Site 244 takes players on an extraterrestrial discovery at Mt. Rushmore, Climate provides players with lethal tides to overcome, and Chop Shop is home to a black market exoskeleton industrial complex. The Exo Zombies map, Infected, features the return of the all-star cast comprising of John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan and Jon Bernthal. Featuring new traps and armaments, as well as the return of Modern Warfare 2’s fictional Bugertown food chain, players must fight waves of the undead on the outskirts of an Atlas facility.

The most surprising news of all, however, is the introduction of a new Exo Ability! The Exo Gapple, only available in a specific playlist, allows players to reach higher ground or a secondary weapon at a quicker pace.

  • Perplex: Get vertical in Sydney as you fight to dominate this five-story modular apartment complex. Take the high ground or blast through the close-quarters interior in this small to medium sized map. Adapt your strategy mid-match when construction drones shift apartment modules, creating new routes and cover positions.
  • Site 244: An alien spacecraft has crash landed, spilling its mysterious cargo under the shadow of Mt. Rushmore, USA. This medium to large three-lane map allows for any style of gameplay, focusing combat through the space ship’s fuselage and around the debris-littered landscape. Use the map-based scorestreak to crack open an alien spore and instantly enhance your perks and exo abilities.
  • Climate: Fight your way through a futuristic man-made utopia in this lush, climate-controlled enclosure. In this small to medium sized circular map, land and water routes channel frenetic combat around the central island structure. Watch your step when the river water changes from an asset into a deadly bubbling obstacle.
  • Chop Shop: Think fast as you make your way through the black market exoskeleton industrial complex and engage in fast-paced shootouts in this medium sized, symmetrical map. Activate the map-based scorestreak to take control of an Advanced Repulsion Turret that radiates a deadly microwave EMP to help lock down key areas.
  • Infected: The four Atlas employees, portrayed by the returning celebrity cast of John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, RED, Burn After Reading), Bill Paxton (Aliens, Titanic, Edge of Tomorrow), Rose McGowan (Planet Terror, Scream), and Jon Bernthal (Fury) fight tooth and nail through undead zombie hordes. Located on the outskirts of an Atlas facility, the new Exo Zombies episode introduces a slew of never-before-seen undead masses, a robust arsenal of new traps and armaments and everyone’s favorite fast food joint, Burgertown.
  • Bonus Weapon: OHM and OHM-Werewolf custom-variant. A directed energy LMG and Shotgun hybrid bonus weapon for players to equip.
  • Exo Grapple: A new exo ability that will allow players to reach vantage points or a secondary weapon much quicker. Only available in a specific playlist.

Ascendance has it all, four all-new maps that were designed from the ground up for Exo abilities and the next chilling entry in the Exo Zombies experience. We’re really excited and can’t wait to play with the community in just a couple of weeks.” – Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer Games Co-Founder and Studio Head

“The community response to Advanced Warfare continues to inspire us, and we’re pushing ourselves every day across all the teams to deliver our best. Havoc was a great start for DLC, and we think Ascendance delivers even more of the nonstop action fans love.” – Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio head, Sledgehammer Games

Ascendance is the second of four DLC packs included in the Season Pass for $49.99 and each pack can also be bought separately for $15 each. Gameplay is set to debut during the Call of Duty Championships final on Sunday, March 29th.
