Four days into a new year and we already have our first casualty of the year… PlatinumGames have announced via their website that Scalebound will be arriving in 2017 rather than 2016.
The Xbox One exclusive third-person RPG title allows players to fight alongside and control a dragon called Thuban and was scheduled for a release later this year. The game had a gameplay reveal at Gamescom in August but little has been revealed since. The game has been pushed back citing the developer’s aims of polishing their most ambitious title yet. With Gears of War 4, Crackdown 3, and Halo Wars 2 to name a few, Xbox One’s exclusive line-up for the year is still looking pretty strong.
The game’s developers, known for releases such as Bayonetta and Vanquish, had the following message to say:

As we enter into 2016, we want to provide you with an update on Scalebound, the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive action-RPG that lets you fight alongside a fearsome dragon named Thuban.
Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together. Scalebound is one of the biggest games PlatinumGames has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale – all set in a beautiful and evolving world.
