RECAP

Hello readers, I know I haven’t been keeping up on the competitive news and predictions. I thought this would be a good time to jump back into writing my prediction articles for ESG. So here is a bit of a recap to inform you of things you might of missed.

To recap a couple of the past events Complexity (coL) has ran away with MLG Anaheim and Gfinity in London, in force. Making it seem that they are the team to beat at the moment. This put the former Fariko/Icons Impact now known as Epsilon.Impact in a tough place after winning four consecutive events in a row (MLG Dallas, EGL 9, UMG STL, COD Champs). They had not faced defeat in a finals until coL beat them at MLG Anaheim. This lead to a very disappointing finish at Gfinity. The teams best player Damon “Karma” Barlow took up the opportunity to join EnVyUs after Tosh “StaiNViLLe” McGruder decided to leave the team, in hope of finding a better fit. This landed him on the new SoaR Competitve team that consists of Anthony “MethodZ”, Derrek “Realize” Jordan, and Garrett “Heist” Mercure. This caused a tremendous amount of controversy throughout the competitive community. Thus, leading to many team changes from FaZe, UNiTE, and among others. The biggest pick-up was John moving to Epsilon.Impact, he now has to fill the role of Karma who is considered to be the best players in the world. But he is still in good company with Chris “Parasite” Duarte, Adam “Killa” Slass, and Marcus “MiRx”. This will be the first event for many of these teams playing together. It will be interesting to see which teams have the best chemistry coming into the event and if/who will take down coL.

PREDICTIONS – TOP 8

#1 – Complexity

Roster:  Tyler “Teepee” Polchow, Patrick “Aches” Price, Ian “Crimsix” Porter, James “Clayster” Eubanks

My Reasoning: Complexity is the team to beat at the moment and I can’t stray away from thinking that. I feel that at the moment they have strong chemisty and always bring hype when they play. If they continue that trend I don’t see why they can’t win three events in a row.

#2 – EnVyUs

Roster: Jordan “Proofy” Cannon, Jordan “JKap” Kaplan, Raymond “Rambo” Lussier, Damon “Karma” Barlow

My Reasoning: This team is by far the best team on paper, I think skill will get them to the championship game. Although Rambo, will have to provide his intelligence and strategy along the way to keep them from collapsing. I feel that a lack of practice and chemistry will keep them from achieving victory in the finals.

#3 – Curse

Roster: Aaron “CMPLX” V., Eric “Twizz” Servello, Ray “Lyar” Loftus, Mike “BlFire” G

My Reasoning: With a very good placing at Anaheim I feel that this team is on the rise. Especially with the new comer Blfire he brings exactly what this teams needs to help them win and I feel that his play will determine a lot of the teams success. I also feel that they are well practiced and have a lot of chemistry. Making me believe they have a lot to bring to the table for this tournament.

#4 – Epsilon.Impact

Roster: Adam “Killa” Sloss, Chris “Parasite” Duarte, Marcus “MiRx”,  Johnathan “John” Perez

My Reasoning: Even though John is a worthy pickup for this line-up I don’t feel he has adequate time to figure out his place on this team. Making me believe a Top 3 finish won’t be achieved at this event. I think this team really needs to take this event in stride and find themselves again. I believe they can achieve the same greatness as earlier in the season, but not here.

#5 – FaZe

Roster: Chris “Replays” Crowder, Mike “Spacely” Space, Josh “Huhdle” Piha, Josiah “Slacked” Berry

My Reasoning: This team is essentially a remake of the original UNiTE from the beginning of the season just with Replays taking Clayster (from coL) place. They are all talented players and I hope to see them prove me wrong in this tournament. Especially since there team was abruptly ended at the beginning of the season with Clayster’s departure after COD Champs. It just really depends on if Replays can bring just as much as Clayster did to this team previously.

#6 – SoaR

Roster: Tosh “StaiNViLLe” Mcgruder, Anthony “Methodz”, Derrek “Realize” Jordan, Garrett “Heist” Mercure

My Reasoning: SoaR has a lot to prove in my eyes. These are all players that were essentially dropped from there previous teams and came together to form a very impressive squad. In my eyes StaiNViLLe has the most to prove at the moment out of all of them. In past events he hasn’t been playing the role of an Assault Rifle player where is most talented, I would expect this change to bring much improvement to his game. Possibly finding there way to a higher placing then I have predicted.

# 7 – UNiTE

Roster: Anthony “NameLeSs” Wheeler, Renato “Saints” Forza, Marcus “MBoZe” Blanks, Ricky “Ricky” Stacy

My Reasoning: This team will be very strong in Search & Destroy and I don’t expect them to drop many games in that category. This is there first event playing together as a team and I don’t expect them to be able to out place the teams above by relying on one gametype. I could easily be proved wrong with strong sub play from Saint and Mboze in the other gametypes, along with leadership from NameLeSs. It just all depends on if Ricky’s anchoring skills can hold up against the best. It will definitely be a team effort for this team to place higher.

# 8 – Team Kaliber

Roster:Brandon “Sharp” Rodgers, Jevon “Goonjar” Gooljar, Dylan “Theory” McGee, Jeremy “Neslo” Olsen

My Reasoning: This newly formed team from YouTuber Chaosxsilencer has brought high expectations to the table, with a very impressive line-up. This team seems to be very well rounded in every gametype, it just depends on if all comes together on LAN. They have the experience to prove me wrong and you could easily see this team find there way into the Top 5.

CONCLUSION

At the moment I feel that this is an appropriate opinion on the Top 8 finishing teams at UMG Atlanta. Even though there are many dark horse teams such as Conquer, MRKN, vVv, and many other amateur hopefuls. You could easily see a surprise team from a event like UMG, this is definitely a proving ground for a lot of competitive players. I expect nothing less than a exciting weekend and many eventful games. Hopefully things don’t stray to far from my Top 8, but anything can happen.
