Later this month, the Nintendo 3DS will receive an update that will improve the StreetPass functionality to allow six tags at once.
Two 3DS owners no longer have to be present at the same time in a Nintendo Zone. You’ll be able to tag the last person who had been hanging out in the zone. This is a big improvement over the functions single tag limitation since the system was released.
It’s important to note that in order to get the data, you need to be present at the Nintendo Zone location (Starbucks, McDonald’s) for a minute or so. A drive-by tagging system is not in place. It would be nice but I don’t see it ever being implemented as it might eliminate some of the fundamentals behind the “Steps” system and Nintendo’s efforts to get gamers up and moving.
