Little Big Planet Vita Impressions

The Playstation Vita game library have been off to a slow start. Nothing that makes you want to buy the Vita. Little Big Planet might just change that though, with the series bringing the greatness and success its have on the Playstation 3 to the handheld Vita.

Once I started playing LBP on my Vita I quickly noticed how they implemented the touch screens. You can move objects, push things in or out to clear or make a path, and slingshot your Sackboy to a higher ledge. All these are great addition to a great series. The same great levels and challenges from the other LBP titles is present in this game even some new additions like an “arcade level world”, that has mini-games. Even the side missions in the words bring an arcade type atmosphere, such as ‘Wack-a-Sackboy’ as shown below:

Gameplay
This game is already full of creations within the community which adds an endless amount of replay value for fans of the series. The connections seem stable and not a problem when playing co-op or joining community levels which is a great sign as this game will depend on the online accessibility for replay value. The buttons and controls are as simple as can be. Tutorials and hints help you learn the touch system rather easily. This all leads to a great and enjoyable experience with LBP, something that the Vita has needed due to lack of game releases.

Presentation
The game is showcased beautifully on the vita screen and seems to never drop a frame or ever lag. The bright colors and effects are really shown off and presented perfectly on the Vita display.

As this is just impressions I don’t want to give up to much information, but I have to say, Little Big Planet is a must buy for LBP fans and Vita owners. It experience with the new worlds and levels was very enjoyable and hope that this is the beginning and launching point for Vita games. Stay tuned for more coverage and our full review of the game.
