Call of Duty: Ghosts lead’s in PlayStation 4 sales; most pre-ordered Xbox One game

Call of Duty, Activision’s chart topping franchise, is no stranger to leading the sales board. This year has been no different, as Call of Duty: Ghosts has once again been number one in sales since it’s release earlier this month.

There is a catch, however, a catch that puts Call of Duty sales down nearly 60% in relation to last year. Like many other publishers, Activision has addressed this concern to investors with the excuse of “next-generation transitional period,” assuming people are waiting for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in order to purchase their title.

Well, there is some weight behind this theory as it has been announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts is the best selling title on the PlayStation 4 and is leading in pre-orders for the Xbox One. These numbers are for all major outlets across North America such as Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts is the No. 1 best-selling game on PS4 in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart, and also the No. 1 pre-ordered Xbox One title in North America at those retailers for launch,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We couldn’t be more excited about the consumer response as we look forward to this Friday’s release of Xbox One. As we’ve said before, it’s a great time to be a gamer, and a great time for Call of Duty fans.”

It’s important to note that even if the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have a one-to-one attachment rate with Call of Duty: Ghosts, they would still not make up for the lost sales in relation to last years Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
