Via IGN, Dark Horse Comics have just announced that they will be releasing a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 comic book later this year. The comic will act as a prequel to this year’s game and is being written by Larry Hama (G.I. Joe) with art from Marcelo Ferreira (Transformers, TMNT).
This announcement is timed with the San Diego Comic Con next week, where we should hear more information. As recently revealed, Black Ops 3 will have a panel at the con where Zombies (and its all-star cast) and the Special Editions will be revealed. Fans attending Comic Con will be able to pick up an exclusive mini-comic next week, while the full comic will be available on Wednesday, November 4th.
“A lot of the appeal of Call of Duty is in how it puts you directly in the action. That’s pretty difficult to replicate in a graphic story format, so the aim in a comic adaptation is to provide more of what you don’t get a lot of in the game We’re talking character development and back-story, and a more involved personal interaction between the characters. Also, it’s possible to really flesh out the story line, create running sub-plots, and explain technical details that aren’t that easy to convey in the game environment.” – Larry Hama, writer
Black Ops 3 is set to release to be released on Friday, November 6th. A public multiplayer beta is scheduled to kick off first on PlayStation 4 next month.
